Jeffrey Kwon, President

3rd Year, Biopsych Major

“Having gone on mission trips in the past, I always wondered what I can do for the people that I was serving other than giving balloons and performing skits as they felt like an inadequate medium of truly touching these people’s lives. That’s when I began to have an interest in medicine: the ability to have a visible, tangible impact on someone’s life and to use it as a means of spreading the good news to others was fascinating to me. I joined GMMA because it furnishes a means of achieving this goal. In these unpredictable and unprecedented times, we plan on spending more time with the Lord whether it be through prayer or reading the Word. We know that God will open up doors as he has done in the past, and we look forward to what is to come.”

Matthew Yoo, Mission Coordinator

Hanna Von, Vice President

3rd Year, Biopsych Major

“I joined GMMA because I wanted to do God’s work and portray His love towards people in a setting larger than myself. GMMA has provided for me a tight community of individuals with similar career goals and more importantly a strong relationship with God, combining the roles of science and faith. I never realized my love for God could be utilized within the medical field, as I had always distinguished the two. Yet now, joining GMMA has taught me how to glorify God and love His people through ways that I never thought of before. I am grateful and eager to serve God not only through the important sharing of the gospel and spiritual side, but also into the physical side with healthcare.”

Joseph Kwon, Secretary

3rd year, biology major

I was lost freshmen year, struggling mentally, physically, and spiritually. While I was searching for answers, I felt a calling to GMMA. I have always wanted to help people around the world and thought GMMA was the best way. Being able to help people around the world medically and spiritually, like I have been, will be a great goal accomplishment for me. I believe God set my future for me and help me along the right path.

“Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.”

About UCSB Chapter

The UCSB GMMA Campus Chapter is a new, budding chapter that started in September 2017. We are excited and honored to be doing God’s work in this opportunity through GMMA. Over the past 3 years, our chapter has grown, and the members have become closer together through love and serving. Please pray for wisdom and guidance as we continue expanding our chapter and reaching out into our community.

We are starting UCSB GMMA because we want to provide an opportunity for every pre-health student on campus to seek Christ as motivation in all they do, especially as they consider their future careers. We also want to spread God’s love to those in need through GMMA mission trips and local volunteering.
