” GMMA has had a special place in my heart ever since I went on medical missions to Cambodia through this ministry! There, I was truly humbled to see how people who have so little could be so full of sincere joy. It was there that I realized it is possible to serve God through the medical field: by using the gifts I’ve been given to bring both physical and spiritual healing. GMMA has allowed me to have new meaning in my dreams by connecting such an important part of my identity with my future career plans. This eventually inspired me to serve, and I am happy that this ministry has become my wonderful community and prayer movement that encourages me to grow.”

“GMMA is a fellowship where I can find like-minded individuals who are not only God-loving people but disciplined and diligent in their academics and future career plans. The community at GMMA encourages me to do everything I can earnestly and to the best of my abilities—in both religious and professional settings. Being in GMMA is a constant reminder that God can be glorified at anytime and at any place, and GMMA gives me an opportunity to serve the Lord within a ministry after college as well!“

“Having gone on mission trips in the past, I always wondered what I can do for the people that I was serving other than giving balloons and performing skits as they felt like an inadequate medium of truly touching these people’s lives. That’s when I began to have an interest in medicine: the ability to have a visible, tangible impact on someone’s life and to use it as a means of spreading the good news to others was fascinating to me. I joined GMMA because it furnishes a means of achieving this goal. In these unpredictable and unprecedented times, we plan on spending more time with the Lord whether it be through prayer or reading the Word. We know that God will open up doors as he has done in the past, and we look forward to what is to come.”
Hanna Von, Missions Coordinator
2nd Year, Biopsych Major
“I joined GMMA because I wanted to do God’s work and portray His love towards people in a setting larger than myself. GMMA has provided for me a tight community of individuals with similar career goals and more importantly a strong relationship with God, combining the roles of science and faith. I never realized my love for God could be utilized within the medical field, as I had always distinguished the two. Yet now, joining GMMA has taught me how to glorify God and love His people through ways that I never thought of before. I am grateful and eager to serve God not only through the important sharing of the gospel and spiritual side, but also into the physical side with healthcare.”
Jenny Lee, Secretary

“To me, GMMA is a place where I look to for support and guidance. GMMA is where I have formed long-lasting relationships and meaningful connections with those who share the same values and love for Christ. Whenever I feel lost or unsure about either my professional track or my spiritual life, I know that I can go to anyone in GMMA for advice. I hope to not only grow stronger in my faith but also to become more assured in whatever path that God has planned for me in the healthcare field. I look forward to the next few years and fulfilling His Great Commission with a joyful heart!”
Kathy Chung, Public Relations
3rd Year, Psychological & Brain Sciences and Communication Double Major
“Coming into college, I knew that I desired to serve with an organization that involved medical missions trips, and GMMA was the perfect opportunity for me to fulfill that goal. I have a passion and desire for serving others, and GMMA gave me the wonderful chance to serve God’s people, not only through simply sharing His word, but through healthcare. Sharing the same passion as many other students has been so rewarding, as we have been able to help one another grow in our spiritual, personal, and academic lives and provide a support system for one another, while keeping each other accountable. I desire to keep serving God and glorifying Him through everything that I do.”
“Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.”
– 1 Corinthians 15:58
About UCSB Chapter
The UCSB GMMA Campus Chapter is a new, budding chapter that started in September 2017. We are excited and honored to be doing God’s work in this opportunity through GMMA. Over the past 3 years, our chapter has grown, and the members have become closer together through love and serving. Please pray for wisdom and guidance as we continue expanding our chapter and reaching out into our community.
We are starting UCSB GMMA because we want to provide an opportunity for every pre-health student on campus to seek Christ as motivation in all they do, especially as they consider their future careers. We also want to spread God’s love to those in need through GMMA mission trips and local volunteering.
General meetings are held bi-weekly on Mondays at 7:30 PM.
Contact us through FB or IG for the Zoom link!
Mission Trips for the 20-21 school year have been canceled, but we are praying and hoping that we will be able to organize and go on Missions again soon! Please keep an eye out for announcements and updates.
