The Northwestern GMMA Student Chapter began in the fall of 2015. It is our goal to bring healing onto our campus and to the mission field, create mentorship between healthcare professionals and students, and grow together as brothers and sisters in Christ.

“I love GMMA because it’s a place where I can see a clear intersection between my faith and my goal of working in medicine. I hope and pray that our chapter will be able to share a glimpse of God’s deep love to those we serve on mission trips, as well as reflect His love onto students on this campus and to each other. It’s really humbling to see how powerfully God can use students like us to do work for His kingdom, whether that’s inside or outside this Northwestern bubble. I am so excited to build relationships with fellow brothers and sisters in Christ and witness how God will use our chapter for His glory!”

“My vision for our chapter this year is for students and professionals to build Christ-centered relationships and encourage one another to pursue the ways in which we can honor God through the unique skills and passions we have been given. I’ve personally been so blessed by GMMA and am so grateful for the various mentors and students that God has allowed me to develop relationships with. I hope to continue to serve GMMA and allow God to truly take reign over my life. I look forward to meeting the members and serving with them for His Kingdom Glory.”

“Through GMMA, I am able to connect with students, mentors, and professionals who have a heart for missions and desire to bring utmost glory to God. My first GMMA mission trip was in Mexico and it was an incredibly humbling and inspiring experience as I was blessed by members who were passionate about serving God’s people. GMMA challenges me to constantly seek out God’s word and His calling while blessing me with like-minded brothers and sisters who encourage me to walk in step with the Spirit and to be a missional daughter of God daily. I love that GMMA fosters a community in which members can pray for one another and work alongside each other to bring all honor to our Lord, in every single aspect of our lives!”

Our Chapter Goals for this Year

  1. Build deeper relationships between students in our chapter, between students and professionals, and between GMMA members across the nation.
  2. Establish a long-lasting partnership with a local community/philanthropy in need.
  3. Grow and mature in our walk with Jesus as we prepare to share the gospel with others in the world and utilize our training in missions.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Mon, January 27 – General Meeting #7

Mexico Mission Trip, December 2019

Soli Deo Gloria! Seventeen members from NU GMMA teamed up with students from UW, UCD, and UOP and professionals to serve God’s people in Tijuana and Ensenada, Mexico. With God’s grace, they ran medical and dental clinics at churches and orphanages, with a vision to provide physical and spiritual healing. They held mini vacation Bible schools with the local children and evangelized at orphanages and a hospice. Thank you God for moving in Mexico and in our hearts!

Missions Send-Off, December 2019

We did a missions send-off for the December Mexico team through pre-mission testimonies and group prayer. Afterwards, we had a mini Christmas potluck, including a gingerbread house making contest. All glory to God for the blessing NU GMMA this quarter!

Care Packages, November 2019

We made 70-80 care packages, including encouraging notes, Bible verses, and yummy snacks for students studying at the library!

Speaker Event, October 2019

We invited Dr. Kevin Chen, an anesthesiologist and an NU alumnus to share his testimony at our first speaker event of the year! Dr. Chen encouraged the students to stand firm in the Lord and to trust God’s timing. Praise God for providing many faithful and loving mentors this year!

GM #2, October 2019

At GM #2, the chapter had a time of worship and got into smaller groups where members shared mini testimonies and prayed for one another. They ended the meeting with fellowship over dinner and boba!

Mexico Mission Trip, December 2018

A team from Northwestern GMMA joined students and professionals in Baja California, Mexico. In Tijuana and Ensenada, we ran health clinics at the caravan and prayed for each of the patients. We also did children’s ministry with kids at the Door of Faith orphanage, as well as in the local area. We briefly served a hospice, performing skits and praying for the patients. What a blessed experience it was to witness God move!
