I feel like as college students and as pre-health students, it’s so easy for us to be caught up in grades and school and we tend to forget why we are studying, why we are striving to become health professionals in the first place. We do everything first because of God; because He has loved us first, served us so humbly, and gave His life for us. And as a response to this, we live a life that is God honoring and loving which includes living out a Christ centered missional life. I believe this is what GMMA is to me, a kingdom building group of people and movement, that strives to live and promote Christ centered missional life across all areas of life-to everyone we encounter. As God has sustained Baylor GMMA this far already, I am so excited to see how God will use GMMA at Baylor for His greater purpose and glory!

I am so excited for this upcoming school year and so thankful that God has allowed GMMA chapter to be a part of Baylor. I am praying that as this semester unfolds, we can continue to be rooted deeply in God’s words. Although GMMA is an organization that mainly focuses on encouraging the missional life, it is a prayer movement at its core. And that is exactly what GMMA is to me. It is a gathering of students with prayerful hearts who strive to live out a Christ-centered life. My hope is that we can be faithful and grateful throughout the year!

GMMA is a big family that’s built upon the foundation of prayer and fellowship. We’re all brothers and sisters united through God’s love 🤍As many parts of a whole, we’re each striving to live out the missional life that God is calling us to live!

Being part of GMMA, I was thrown to the realization that my purpose centers for God only. It really helped me find my “why”: why do I study and why do I want to work in the medical field.
GMMA to me is a breather. The fellowship and spiritual growth we build among our officers and members is something I can’t get anywhere else. God constantly reminds me of His greater love and grace. I’m so thankful He placed me here at the most beautiful and perfect time to serve with so many other brilliant people. As a new chapter this semester, I’m super excited for the endless journeys we’ll take together to equip ourselves for God’s kingdom!

Through GMMA, I was able to reevaluate why I chose the career path I wanted. I was able to justify why I wanted to become what I want to be. Being a part of such a tight-knit community about God was so enriching for me. As a pre-med, I felt that God had so many things planned and prepared for the next generation of students. The connection between medicine and God was what I was looking for inside me and through leadership in GMMA I was able to reexamine my career path. I hope to grow as a student and a believer through GMMA!

GMMA is not just an organization but a family. We are brothers and sisters in Christ and one big family, not just in Baylor but within all the chapters as well. Through GMMA, I hope to strengthen my faith and grow together not only spiritually but also as a person. GMMA is a new chapter with Baylor and as the first group of officers, there are a lot of responsibilities and expectations that we have. However, even though I may be lacking and not ready, I know that God has given me so many reliable officers and leaders that I can learn from and trust to have my back. I hope that what I do for GMMA is pleasing to God and that GMMA won’t be just an organization with Baylor but an organization that does the work of God and is centered around God.

GMMA to me is a reminder of my purpose as a pre-health student; ultimately, I want my studies and career to glorify His kingdom. GMMA is a family that I can rely on when it comes to spiritual growth and accountability. I am so grateful for the opportunity to serve in GMMA and I hope to be able to guide others in their faith as well!
Welcome to Baylor Global Medical Missions Alliance!
The Baylor GMMA chapter was founded in 2021 through the guidance of Dr. Peter Chung and Dr. Yongsik Kim. Our mission and vision are to become the salt and light on our campus, guiding students to live a Christ-centered missional life. We also hope to create a network of like-minded individuals that have the heart to spread the love of God not only through healthcare but in all professions.
