“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving,
let your requests be made known to God.” (Philippians 4:6)
GMMA November 2020 Monthly Newsletter
For the month of Thanksgiving,
GMMA lifts up a Psalms of Thanksgiving in faith.
Happy Thanksgiving GMMA Family!
We are thankful for every member standing on the foundation of faith
to live out the Christ-centered missional life for His glory!
Professional Development
All projects informed in the October issue continues and is keeping everyone engaged and active.
Many GMMA professionals have been volunteering their time and service for good works. For November, some of the professionals and postgrads joined their efforts to help out with free flu vaccine administration. Due to the pandemic, getting the flu vaccine was promoted more to prevent complications of possibly getting both viruses. Though in masks and distancing, it was a great time of service and fellowship.
Professionals also participated in the Health Panel the student chapters coordinate every year to provide opportunities for students to learn through meeting professionals in various health fields.
Our November prayer meeting focused on giving thanks. UVA and Biola chapters made Thanksgiving videos to remind all of GMMA how we are so grateful for this community of multi-generations serving together for Christ. We thank UVA president Isabela and Biola president Andrew for coordinating the compilations and their closing prayers. We also thank Texas A&M mission coordinator, Samuel, for lifting up a powerful prayer for Haiti missionary. November’s theme was on Restoration and called out for the restoration of faith, family, and our much-divided nation.
GMMA congratulates Dr. Suh for the anniversary of the SmileUntoHim Free Dental Clinic. She faithfully leads the ministry to provide free dental treatments to veterans, the elderly, and students who are not able to afford dental care. In spite of the pandemic, the clinic continues to serve the people of Riverside, CA. Glory to God for their much-appreciated service.
Mission Report
GMMA Emergency Covid-19 Mission Fundraiser Mission Site Update
Praise the Lord, most of the missionaries are safe, but all of them are experiencing greater challenges on the sites. Here are a few updates. Honduras is heavily flooded through the impact of the hurricanes. Amazingly missionary Lee’s site stayed intact and not harmed for the local teachers who serve the school was able to be housed safely in the dormitory built to accommodate GMMA mission teams! Haiti missionary Helen Kim contracted Covid-19 and was hospitalized for a week, but thankfully she is recovering from it. Missionary Edgar and his extended family contracted the virus as well, but recovered with minor difficulties and resumes the mission work in Mexico. The Philippines has been hit hard with flooding due to the hurricane as well. We pray GMMA’s fundraised donations can encourage them and be delivered safely to each of the 11 missionaries before Christmas. Please pray for the sites and the missionaries.
November Featured Mission Partner
One of the mission organizations selected for the ongoing fundraiser is Silk Wave Missions. They were selected based on their faithful dedication to evangelizing the Muslim dominated nations. The scope of their work encompasses many areas of coordinating mission trips to these nations, partnering with local pastors to pray and build churches on these nations, and partnering with global churches and ministries to accomplish the vision God has granted to the ministry. They describe their task as “Until the Gold Censor is filled (Rev. 8:3-5), Give yourselves no rest, and give Him no rest (Isa 62:6-7)” Two initiatives are central to their ministry which are CPM (Church Planting Movement) and UPM (United Prayer Movement). GMMA members have joined their mission trips and provide medical services in the past, and look forward to joining them again when the borders open. Please pray for the growing population of Muslims all over the world to find their true savior, Jesus Christ, and their creator God. Web: Silkwavemission.com.
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread, the future has never felt so unpredictable. As challenging as it has been for us here in the USA, we hear of even more dire circumstances from mission sites around the world. Although GMMA is not able to go physically at this time, we are striving to go in heart and in spirit through more prayer and financial support.
GMMA is initiating a collective fundraiser for our mission partners from Sept 1 to Dec 1, 2020, to provide donations to eleven selected missionaries. We already sent aides to a few sites in need of urgent assistance. How thankful that we are able to encourage on-site missionaries through our collective effort. Donate at gmma7.org

Regional Health Reports
WEST
Praise Report
The West Coast just had their first region-wide Health Panel on November 2! It was a wonderful time of listening, learning, and fellowshipping with various health professionals online. Students were very blessed by all the GMMA professionals who dedicated their time to speak for this event.
Needs
Student chapters are continuing their fundraising efforts, hosting events and finding creative ways to fundraise. Please pray that God would work powerfully through these chapter’s efforts to help the missionaries we partner with.
Regional Coordinator Message
Many students across chapters are experiencing zoom fatigue from their online classes. Please pray for our students’ spiritual, emotional, and mental wellbeing. Please pray that God would refresh their souls and spirits as they prepare for finals and that they would press on in the Lord’s strength.
Student Chapter Highlight
“UW GMMA has decided to spend this first quarter online focused on building up the community of our group and relationship with the mentors. With the challenges that have presented themselves this first quarter, we wanted to make our general meetings more interactive by having panels and more opportunities for online fellowship. We have also continued to email mentors consistently about updates and always encourage them to lead/join in on our general meetings. In order to keep each other accountable, we are in the process of planning a devotional that will include mentors, officers, as well as general members and hope this will help to continue to build up our GMMA family through faith!” – Elliya Kim, UW President
CENTRAL
Praise report
This past month of November, the Central Region hosted a regional health panel with various mentors from across the region coming together to answer questions and talk about faith and their careers.
Needs
Lots of prayers are needed as many are feeling burn-out and lack of motivation. Prayers for students to finish the semester strong, and to remember to worship and honor God even through their studies.
Regional Coordinator Message
This fall semester is coming to an end as many schools are finishing up. One thing God has reminded me of is free will and the power he has given to us in that. Within the free will God has given us, there is will-power. Though God knows all and is in true control of our lives, we still have the decision to get up, control our emotions, and choose how we are going to respond to God in worship in our daily circumstances of life. We are made in God’s image and the human body/mind/spirit can truly be pushed beyond “limits”. God is our ultimate strength, song, and salvation. With this in mind, what is there to fear?
EAST COAST
Praise Report
All of the East Coast chapters have conducted their first general meeting of the year by now. No matter how small or big the turnouts were, we are thankful for how God purposefully brought every curious and eager heart. For the first time, the East Coast held a regional student healthcare panel on 10/14! Students from all 16 universities attended to hear encouraging words and practical advice from believers in professional schools. It was a blessing to witness older and newer GMMA family members praying for one another.
Regional Outreach & Needs
With the recent resurgence in Covid-19 cases all across the country, students and their universities have had to consider how best to adjust. Some students will be traveling home and staying home for the remainder of the semester. Some face even stricter social distancing guidelines. Please pray for the safety and well-being of our GMMA members as we approach the holidays.
Regional Coordinator Message
This pandemic has made a stage of life already filled with many uncertainties even more unpredictable for many students and postgraduates, including myself. As we face a resurgence and even more evidence that we are in for the long haul, many of us have been facing continuous feelings of anxiety and hopelessness. One passage that I have been striving to preach to myself has been 2 Corinthians 10:4-5, “ For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,” I hope that we can cast away any thoughts or messages that go against God, those that cause us to despair and lose hope, and cling onto the ones that hold divine power.

Prayer Requests
Everything on dry land that had the breath of life in its nostrils died during God’s 1st judgment of the world. Do you feel like that you are in the ark like Noah, not knowing when you will be freed from having a masks on your face and a social distance? Noah believed God when He had to prepare the ark and while he was waiting for the dry land. Noah’s trust in God was proved in his actions while he was waiting for the land to dry. He opened the window, sent a raven and a dove, and worshiped God for saving their family’s lives. Do you trust God and act upon His promises? Yes, you can act upon His promises as you pray to God according to His promises.
